Prairie State Products Co., Inc. has been manufacturing signs in the Chicago area since 1930, as a division of Polar Hardware Mfg. Co., Inc., the company was started by the Blumenthal Brothers. We began printing illuminated and informational signs for the commercial, construction, institutional, traffic, and safety industries.
In 1936, Harry Hiett, an early Prairie State employee, wrote “Screen Process Production.” One of the first books on screen printing, Hiett’s publication is still available in print today and is considered by many to be the definitive source guide for screen printing production. Prairie State has always been committed to innovation since its inception, and Hiett was among the first to use 4-color process printing.
Today, Prairie State offers a range of expanded signage products, continuing our work in the safety and traffic industries while integrating materials like baked enamel steel, aluminum, plastics, and textiles. Our signs utilize stock or semi-custom wording with various options for language, sign size, material, color, and quantity, and our modern application methods ensure product quality and durability. At Prairie State, we only offer products that our team can be proud of.
